People dont realize the power of their words. I have had a lot of hurtful things said toward me but none of these words hurt like the ones from the people you love most. From the song Careless Whisper, “time can never mend the words of a careless whisper from a good friend.” This song has a true and painful message behind it. No one in this world can hurt you like the people you trust the most. Careless words when your angry or heartbroken can cut deeper then you will ever intend on doing.
The tongue is the sharpest and most powerful tool any human possesses. Proverbs 12:18 says, ” Reckless words pierce like a sword but the tongue of the wise brings healing.” Josh Kleehammer is one of the most influential people on my life, and he once told me, ” Jake , a fool is quick to speak and speaks without thinking.” Another way of saying that is a fool speaks first and thinks later. I never knew that words could hurt so bad before someone I loved hurt me. And let me tell you, the worst pain in the world is to be hurt by the one you love. It’s not just other people that you will hurt by your reckless words, but you also hurt yourself. James 1:26 says,” if anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless.”
If you know me at all, then you know that I struggle so much on keeping my tongue in check. When I first heard this I was so scared, but now I understand that reckless words bring nothing but pain and regret. So you must control your tongue if you ever want to call yourself a christian. Because if you are a believer and act the exact same as non-believer then your religion is nothing. My friends if you take nothing else from my message at least take this, be careful of what you say because careless words cut deeper then you can ever imagine.

What is peace that everyone speaks of? They talk of it like it is one of their best friends or a member of their family. Maybe that’sthe problem, I feel like I don’t even know my who are my friends any more. Those people that talk down upon me and just pull me toward drinking and getting high, they are no friends of mine now. Sean, Nay-Nay, Jo, Cody, B-Down…. They are my true friends. So lean on family right, wrong. You cant lean on things that don’t understand or get whats going on. That sounds peaceful doesn’t it?
This “peace” is used to be like a foreign language to me. Like a sweet wine but yet not being of age to drink it. Like a cruel joke that I didn’t understand why it was so funny. Peace was like a little dog you chase down the street. It used to taunt me by letting me close, then it just left me even further away from true peace.
I used to try to find temporary peace in golf, but what good is four hours of peace if you only dread to go back to reality. It would play in the back of my head, three holes left, two holes left, last hole, it is over. Now everything you had left for those four hours has now doubled and comes crashing down upon you like a ton of bricks. I would try to fill this hole in my heart by putting alcohol, hatred, drugs, sports,ect.. but none of this would ever make it better, it would only make the hole bigger.
So my question to you is what is your peace, and is it true peace or is it like chasing the dog. If you try to find peace in a person then you are never going to find it. A person can only help you find peace, they can not be your peace. No matter what you think of them, they are not perfect and they have issues them self. God is the only true peace on this sinful place we call Earth. But now I told you this here comes the hard part. If you want eternal peace that will last forever, then you will have to take ridicule from humans on Earth. It wont be easy, but a lifetime with peace will be worth all redicule. But if you ever forget that the lord is your only true peace, just remember this”the lord will always take care of his children. If you give it all to him then he will always take care of you and it will all work out for the best. ” One of the best and smartest girls in the world told me that when I first started my walk back with the lord, and she was completely right. Thankyou Jordan for all you have helped me thorugh.
